SCHEDULE: WEEK OF NO ESCAPE Filed by Sera Voss For Personal Records and the Federation Site Last Updated: Sunday Evening, Pre-Week ———————————————— NOTE ON FILING The document that follows is the schedule by which I will conduct the week preceding my challenge to Lacey Drummond for the Women's Championship. It is not the schedule I would have filed two weeks ago. I am filing it anyway, in its current form, for the same reason I filed the previous two: the audience has demonstrated interest in the record, and I see no reason to provide it in an edited state now that the honest version is less convenient. At Behind Closed Doors 9, a Powerbomb into the cage wall produced real damage to the left side of my ribcage. I am not going to describe the sensation, because the sensation is not useful information. I am going to describe what changed about the week, because that is. Three things changed. The gym sessions changed in composition. A medical evaluation was added that was not previously part of the schedule. And I removed one activity entirely, which I will note when I reach it. The schedule is provided in twenty-four-hour time, Hamburg time zone. I will travel to The Foundry on Friday. — S. V. ———————————————— MONDAY 06:00 — Wake. 06:00–06:15 — Hydration, mobility sequence modified to exclude thoracic rotation. Weight check. 06:15–07:00 — Medical evaluation. Imaging review with the federation's contracted physician. Findings: two ribs bruised, none fractured, soft-tissue swelling consistent with the impact described in the BCD 9 broadcast record. Cleared for modified training, with restriction on direct impact to the left flank. 07:00–07:30 — Breakfast. Two soft-boiled eggs, one slice rye bread, one apple, one black coffee. Unchanged. 07:30–08:45 — Film: Drummond, full BCD 10 (against Marisol Reyes, 13:11). Notes on entry sequencing into corner offence. 08:45–09:15 — Walk. Three kilometres, reduced pace. No music. 09:15–10:45 — Gym session 1. Lower-body strength block only: deadlift triples at reduced load, single-leg work, no rotational core loading. This is the first strength session in eleven months that has excluded a torso component. I am noting that because the schedule usually does not require notation of what it excludes, only what it contains. 10:45–11:15 — Cooldown. No foam roller to the affected side. 11:15–11:45 — Lunch. Salmon, brown rice, steamed greens. 11:45–13:15 — Rest. No screens. Reading: text not related to combat sport. 13:15–14:45 — Gym session 2. Submission drill block, upper-body entries only, partner instructed to withhold body-lock pressure. Partner: M. 14:45–15:15 — Notes. 15:15–16:00 — Ice, twenty minutes, left flank. This replaces the sauna block that would ordinarily occupy this slot. Heat is not indicated for the injury; I am recording the substitution so the schedule remains an accurate document and not an aspirational one. 16:00–17:00 — Dinner. Chicken, sweet potato, mixed greens. Tea. 17:00–19:00 — Film: Drummond, full title reign to date, catalogued by finish type. Fourteen finishes reviewed. Twelve originated from a body strike within the final ninety seconds. 19:00–20:00 — Free time. 21:30 — In bed. 22:00 — Sleep. ———————————————— TUESDAY 06:00 — Wake. 06:00–07:00 — Standard morning sequence, medical check-in by phone rather than in person. No change to findings. 07:00–09:15 — Gym session 1. Conditioning block, modified: stationary bike in place of hill repeats, to remove impact loading from the torso during breathing under exertion. 09:15–10:15 — Cooldown, ice, lunch. 10:15–11:45 — Rest. 11:45–14:15 — Gym session 2. Submission drill block, continued. Focus: escapes that do not require bracing the left side against the mat. 14:15–14:45 — Notes. 14:45–15:15 — Ice. 15:15–16:15 — Dinner. 16:15–18:15 — Film: Drummond corridor exchange, "Last Call," BCD 9. I told her, on camera, that I intend to take the thing she keeps on her kitchen table. I am rewatching it once, without commentary, because the statement was accurate when I made it and remains accurate now, and I want to confirm that the injury has not altered my assessment of my own words. It has not. 18:15–19:15 — Free time. 21:30 — In bed. 22:00 — Sleep. ———————————————— WEDNESDAY 06:00 — Wake. 06:00–07:00 — Standard morning sequence. 07:00–09:15 — Gym session 1. Light strength maintenance, upper body and legs, torso excluded entirely per medical guidance. 09:15–10:15 — Cooldown, ice, lunch. 10:15–11:45 — Rest. 11:45–14:15 — Sparring. This is the activity I removed. I have not sparred this week and will not before Saturday. Full-contact simulation against an opponent instructed to work in Ms. Drummond's stylistic register would require me to accept body contact I am not currently cleared to accept. I am recording the omission rather than concealing it, because a schedule that hides what it is missing is not a schedule, it is a performance, and performance is not the service I am providing to anyone who reads this. 14:15–15:15 — In place of sparring: extended film session. Drummond's non-title outing against Marisol Reyes reviewed a second time, focused on the moment her opponent's structure failed. I am not yet certain whether this happens to opponents because of what Ms. Drummond does or because of what they do while she is doing it. I intend to find out on Saturday, which is a more honest way of finding out than a fourth viewing would be. 15:15–16:00 — Ice. 16:00–17:00 — Dinner. 17:00–19:00 — Film: my own Behind Closed Doors 9 match, self-review. I have watched the Powerbomb eleven times. I am not counting for any reason related to sentiment. I am counting because eleven is the number of viewings it took me to identify the half-second where I could have adjusted my landing and did not, and I wanted to know the number. 19:00–20:00 — Free time. 21:30 — In bed. 22:00 — Sleep. ———————————————— THURSDAY 06:00 — Wake. 06:00–07:00 — Standard morning sequence. Final pre-travel medical check. Cleared for competition, restriction on direct impact noted for the record but not for the ring — the federation does not modify matches for injuries that clear a fighter, and I have not asked it to. 07:00–08:00 — Gym session. Mobility only. Scapular work, hip work, breath work under light resistance to confirm the ribs tolerate the exertion a match will require. 08:00–10:00 — Travel preparation. Equipment check. 10:00–10:30 — Lunch. 10:30–12:00 — Rest. 12:00–13:30 — Final film review, both Drummond matches, watched once each, no notes. 13:30–15:00 — Walk. Six kilometres if the ribs tolerate it, less if they do not. I will know which by kilometre two. 15:00–16:00 — Ice. 16:00–17:00 — Dinner. Chicken, white rice, vegetables, tea. 17:00–19:00 — Reading. Not related to combat sport. 19:00–19:30 — Final equipment check. 21:00 — In bed. 22:00 — Sleep. ———————————————— FRIDAY — TRAVEL DAY [Conforms to the standard travel-day structure filed previously, with ice replacing the hotel gym block and a medical check-in on arrival at The Foundry's contracted facility.] ———————————————— ADDITIONAL NOTES Sleep window: unchanged, 22:00 to 06:00. The injury has not disrupted it, which either means the injury is less significant than the broadcast made it look, or means I am better at sleeping through significant things than I previously had reason to know. I do not currently have enough information to determine which. I want to note one thing plainly, because the schedule above is a document of adjustments and I do not want the adjustments mistaken for doubt. Ms. Drummond's championship reign has been built on body offence landing late in her matches, when opponents are least able to protect the area she has already softened. My ribs are, at present, the most accurate description of what she is going to look for. I am aware of this. I have been aware of it since the imaging came back. I am not rebuilding this week around avoiding that fact. I am rebuilding it around being able to compete honestly on Saturday with the fact fully present, which is a different exercise, and a harder one, and the correct one. The schedule above is the schedule. The match against Ms. Drummond will be the match. The two are not separate considerations. They have simply, for one week, required more coordination between them than usual. I will fight for the championship on Saturday. I expect the ribs to still be a fact on Sunday, regardless of the result. I am filing this now so that whatever happens, the record shows I never pretended otherwise. — S. V.
